The Great Get Together, Hebden Bridge

Jubilee Street Party From Hell Workshop

Underlands Exhibition - Hebden Bridge Arts Festival

Time Out have been working with The Hebden Bridge Arts Festival on The Underlands Project about Fungi and the natural environment at Hardcastle Craggs. We had 10 young people join the Time Out Project Workers and HBAF staff on a walk on 24th February. We were joined by Steve Hindle from the National Trust who taught us all about fungi and we found loads of examples.
Then follpwing this the young people attended 3 after school sessions at Hebden Bridge Town Hall where they tried their hand at; writing, digital art, cartooning, fungi prints and photo-art.
The results of all this hard work has been exhibited at Gibson Mill, Hardcastle Craggs over the Bank Holiday weekend 23rd-24th April and the video below shows the private viewing on the Friday before.

The Outback - Nature Day in February Half Term

Big thanks to The Outback Community Kitchen & Garden for letting us host our first Nature Day in their beautiful space which went down an absolute TREAT in the holidays.
Young people enjoyed a nature hunt, pattern observing, grass head making and lots more fun outdoor games and got to make their own pizzas in the fantastic kitchen space.
Everybody loved it and we will be back very SOON!! Keep an eye on the website:

Even the weather was kind to us

Time Out was part of Todmorden Book Festival this year. Time Out’s team leader, Tara (also a writer) ran three workshops for students of Todmorden High School, around the theme Tell it how it is!

With a dual focus on writing and wellbeing, a group of Year 8 and Year 10 students explored how they had been affected by the last eighteen months and how best to put it into words. Three workshops took place and the work is shown below (download the files below the images to view bigger).

Literacy Centre manager Amanda Brown from Todmorden High School said:
"The workshop saw the students produce some brilliant, beautiful pieces of writing, thanks to Tara's guidance which both supported them and challenged them to go further with their writing than they had before"

We have been running drawing workshops online - have a look at some of the amazing comic stories we have created.
The CREATE @WebComic Sessions can be booked by contacting alex@healthymindscalderdale.co.uk - they run for 6 weeks and they help with drawing skills, mental health/stress reduction, learning new skills and making some new friends.

You can also post images on social media, find us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter

Here is an animated version of one of the @Webcomic sessions. Zeke draws the comics from the young peoples suggestions and we end up with a very cool story:
