What is Youth Social Action? Youth Social Action, is young people coming together to be the change they wish to see in society. YSAtakesplaceinarangeofcontextsandcanmeanformalorinformalactivities,inanysetting;forexampleonline,extracurricular,inclubsandgroups,informally,oraspartofstructuredprogrammes.
What will young people get from taking part? Young people will gain experience in delivering workshops, public speaking and communication, as well as meeting new people . If they choose, it will lead onto volunteering and work experience. Taking part in YSA will have a double benefit – part by developing skills, character and life opportunities as well as a benefit to a community, cause or social problem.
What age is it appropriate for? YSA is appropriate for anyone between the age of 11-19 who want to get involved and make a difference in themselves and in their community. The training is tailored around young people's passions and interests with 1:1 support to ensure they get the most out of the course.
The Course structure The course is an 8 week programme in groups of 10-15, with weekly 90 minute workshops. In the 7th week, young people deliver their own workshop, which could lead to further volunteering opportunities.
