What is Time Out? Time Out is is a co-produced scheme available for young people in Calderdale aged 10-19. Time Out provides a range of activities for young people to feel good and stay well, such as singing and drama, arts and crafts or outdoors and sports.
Time Out also offers courses and workshops in both schools and outside of school hours on topics such as anxiety and depression, self-harm and self-esteem.
We have created a network of organisations within Calderdale to ensure the correct support is given to each young person when needed.
Is the workshop content appropriate for my child? Our workshops cover basic mental health topics, our research is done based on personal experience and is made age appropriate for each year group. For example the 'Mental Health Awareness' session covers good and bad mental health, and how to look after yourself. It focuses on feelings and emotions rather than medical terms and diagnoses. The workshops are interactive and we ask young people for their ideas and input around mental health.
Why is my child attending activities for ‘wellbeing’? Wellbeing is for everyone, Time Out aims to put on and expand the variety of opportunities for young people. How much will Time Out cost? Time Out is completely free to sign up to and activities will vary in price but will remain low cost or free, any costs will be clearly shown.
Has my child been referred to Time Out? Time Out is available for everyone ages 10-19 and is a self-referral scheme, there does not have to be a specific need, Time Out is for anyone.
How will Time Out benefit my child? Activities and opportunities allow young people to make new friends, learn a new skill, build confidence, emotional resilience and self-esteem. Benefits will be different for each person and will depend on what activities young people choose.
Will I be updated on my child’s progress? Time Out is confidential like most other services, information shared with parents is at the discretion of the individual. Time Out will follow standard safeguarding procedures.
